A series dedicated to national heritage:Both denominations were printed by De La Rue under the decree of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Nicaragua of September 12, 2007, entering circulation in May 2009; The 20 note celebrates the Afro-Caribbean culture of the Caribbean Coast with the traditional Palo de Mayo dance, while the 10 note commemorates two milestones of Nicaraguan territorial defense against pirates and filibusters.
