Historical and Issue Context

Tribute to a hero of the Liberal Reform:The obverse portrays Ramón Rosa (1848–1893), writer, jurist and statesman, main ideologue of the Honduran Liberal Reform, whom the bill credits as “Father of the Honduran Homeland”.

Key Details Visible on the Banknote

  • Obverse:portrait of Ramón Rosa and, at left, the national coat of arms of Honduras.
  • Reverse:the historic former Presidential House in Tegucigalpa, seat of the executive branch between 1922 and 1992.
  • Octagonal transparent window:translucent window with a stylized geometric border and a raised numeral “20” integrated into the clear area.
  • Simulated watermark:internal opacified design showing the letters “BCH” and repeated numeral groups against the light.
  • Offset printing microtext:high-resolution fine-line patterns in the geometric background fields, designed to prevent optical cloning by scanner.
  • UV fluorescent numbering:double serial numbering (horizontal on the upper left and vertical on the right margin) that fluoresces bright green under ultraviolet light.
  • Color:green tones predominate, with a multicolored purple, orange, and light-blue underprint.
